In 2016, we started as a family business with the goal to introduce the highest quality South Asian grocery products to the Polish market. We launched our business by setting up a shop in Pabianice, Poland, with the brand name “Desi Polska”. We introduced a range of exotic groceries including rice, spices, flour, lentils, snacks, pastes and pickles to promote the unique culture and taste of South Asia. We sourced our products from various countries, including India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal and Sri Lanka.

In the initial stages of our expansion, we worked together as a family to ensure the growth of our business and reach new heights. As we grew, we realized that we needed to promote these products through educating consumers on how the spices, pastes, rice and other ingredients of South Asian cooking can be used for different recipes. It was not enough to simply provide the products; it was also essential to help our customers master the cooking of Basmati rice, spices, lentils and so forth. And so, our team took on the task of disseminating information and recipes that our customers could use, to ensure that they have the best cooking experience, using items from our store.

In the next stage of our growth, we thoroughly analysed market trends, and based on our research, we realised that there was a huge avenue for us to bring the highest quality of rice and exotic spices in the Polish market. Thereafter, we aimed to ensure that we bring the best quality of ingredients right to the customer’s doorstep, with the guarantee that our products are sourced directly from the regions in which they are cultivated. Traveling to the farmlands in Pakistan, we explored the highest quality of long grain Basmati rice, which contained the perfect amount of aroma, true to its name “Basmati” meaning “Queen of Aroma”.

Once we had established a strong source which allowed us to supply the best quality grain of rice to the Polish market, we embarked upon the journey to take our brand, Zauk, to greater heights, and establish our presence across Europe.

Today we are proud to have developed into a large company, with multiple storage facilities, as well as a strong distribution and transport network through all of Europe. We directly import and distribute premium grade Basmati rice and spices to various retail stores, online shops, chain stores and restaurants across Europe, including Poland, Germany, Estonia, Romania, Bulgaria, Latvia and Lithuania.
